7 Simple Tips for Living A More Happy and Fulfilling Life

Enough is EnoughEver felt that your life is on autopilot or even running on empty? Feeling like you have absolutely no time for yourself or you’re not being recognised for the things you do? Stop feeling warn out! You deserve a better life. It’s time to make a change, it’s time to be happy and it’s time to feel truly fulfilled. As they say, ‘grab life by the balls’ and and live life to the fullest.

In this blog post, I’m covering 7 simple tips for you to do exactly that. If you decide to make a change – make a commitment to yourself. Post reminders around the house. Set alerts on your phone. Do whatever is necessary to shift your focus. Take notes and make observations.

Whatever stands out to you, leave a comment below. Tell me what changes you’re determined to make.

# 1. Speak your mind – If you’re one to usually not want to cause a fuss or an upset, I get it. It’s not easy to speak what you really feel. But, if you’re bottling your emotions, you’ll causing yourself emotional distress that keeps on building until it explodes. Now, I’m not saying you should always speak your mind – we do have to filer what we say at times. But don’t overfilter. Don’t let yourself be walked over. Don’t let others bully you. Stand up for your rights, your values because they matter along with you. So, next time you can feel that sinking feeling – practise speaking up more about what you believe in, what matters to you. People will see your strength and power. They will value YOU!

#2. Follow your intuition – Sure, there are times to be practical. But you also need to know when to follow your heart. You’re a human being, not a machine. You have thoughts and feelings, you get hunches and your intuition often tells you things that you ignore because of what others might think or what you think they will think of you. Chances are: the more you follow your intuition, the happier you’ll feel. So, listen to yourself more. What do you really want? What does your intuition tell you? What does your heart tell you? Because what ever keeps coming to you is probably right. It’s time to finally your heart!

#3. Have more fun – Seriously! You work wayyyyy too hard. Let your hair down a little! Don’t work 24/7. There’s a point of diminishing return. If you don’t have the right amount of downtime, you’ll find yourself being horribly unproductive and wasting your time. So, waste a little time having fun and being silly. If you have to, schedule some cray cray time. You’ll release a lot of stress and feel fantastic at the same time. Seal’s ‘Crazy’ song comes to mind, and I think the following lyrics perfectly demonstrate it!

But we’re never gonna survive unless
We get a little crazy
No we’re never gonna survive unless
We are a little
Cray cray crazy

#4. Spend more time outside – Are you one of those people who eats their lunch inside? Stop it. New rule = go outside. Find a walking track or quite space that you enjoy. If you can find a patch of grass, take off your shoes and ground your feet. If you work from home, grab your laptop and spend part of the day outside. If you can convince your office colleagues to relocate… DO IT!

#5. Start a ritual – Starting a ritual doesn’t have to be religious tradition. It’s about you finding time to devote to something that makes your heart sing. It could be meditating, going for a walk or a run, working out at gym, going fishing with friends.  What ever you choose – make sure it’s meaningful. If you’re starting a ritual with a friend, make sure they understand just how important this ritual is and what it means.

#6. Be yourself – You don’t have time to be anyone else. You seriously don’t. Life is too precious. Your time is too precious. Don’t wait until your death bed to realise that you lived a life that wasn’t yours. If you’re living a life that doesn’t make you happy, if you are trying to be somebody you’re not in order to make other people happy… Give it up. Now! You can’t afford to not be yourself.

#7. Live in the moment and let go – it’s so easy for you to hold on to rubbish from the past. Emotional garbage that you think you’ve delt with can raise it’s ugly head. I found this myself, having spent the past few days in my hometown. Re-visiting places like my old school brought back a lot of memories, some of them less pleasant! Just remember, all this stuff we carry on a daily basis is garbage. It’s not pretty, and it weighs us down.

You don’t need it. Carrying garbage around is a very smelly way to live!

Let it go and be present in this very moment. Take a look around. Appreciate all your senses lighting up – the sounds, smells and sights. This is very first and very last time you’ll appreciate this in this very moment. Set yourself daily reminders to appreciate the now.

One day at a time - this is enough ...

When you do this, you’ll find more joy. You’ll laugh more. You’ll live more. You’ll appreciate your life as a gift and celebrate your uniqueness. So go forth, and live your life how you want.
